Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum has cautioned his players not to be complacent against 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosts, Australia, who he described as a “dangerous” team.
The former African champions will face The Matildas in their second Group B on Thursday, July 27 at the Brisbane Stadium.
Nigeria began their campaign in the competition in an impressive manner after forcing Olympics champions, Canada, to a 0-0 draw.
Australia, on their part, edged past tournament debutants, Republic of Ireland with a 1-0 scoreline.

They were without their talismanic captain, Sam Kerr in the game and will once again miss the Chelsea player, who sustained a calf injury in training when they face the Super Falcons in 6 days.
Despite this, however, Waldrum insists the Australians are still a dangerous opponent, who his girls cannot afford to underestimate.
According to him, despite the absence of their captain, Kerr, they were still able to get a result against the Republic of Ireland.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the American said: “I watched their performance against Ireland; they’re dangerous with so many different weapons.
“We can’t go into it thinking the game is already won because they don’t have a star player. Our players understand that.”
