Delegates from the Northern Senatorial District of Ondo State have commenced voting in the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the International Event Centre (Dome) Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Already, about 800 policemen and other security personnel were drafted to the venue of the primary election to forestall any possible breakdown of law and order.
Investigations by TheNiche revealed that the contest is likely to be tight as supporters of Eyitayo Jegede and that of Agboola Ajayi, the Deputy Governor of the state who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the venue of the primaries in their numbers.
Eight aspirants are contesting in the primary election for the governorship ticket.
The aspirants include Mr Eyitayo Jegede, Mr Agboola Ajayi, Mr Eddy Olafeso and Mr Banji Okunomo.
Others include Mr Sola Ebiseni, Dr Bode Ayorinde, Senator Boluwaji Kunlere, and Godday Erewa.
The delegates from the North Senatorial District of the state, who put on their delegate tags, were ushered into the hall, local government by local government as they cast their votes for their preferred aspirants.
