Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has vowed never to vote again in Nigeria if things don’t change, saying votes don’t count.

Obasanjo made this known in his remarks at the 2024 youth governance dialogue organized by the Youth Development Centre of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

He said the youth’s numbers don’t matter because elections are not based on the number.

Obasanjo lamented that after rigging the election, they tell the losing side to go to court where there’s no justice.

Obasanjo had earlier called for the sack of INEC chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu and his team.

Speaking during an interactive session with youths, the former president stated that for youths to change the narrative, they must be positively instructive.

He said no visible development has been recorded in the country, just as he also berated successive governments after his tenure for alleged poor handling of the power sector.

Also speaking at the event, Senior Programme Development Officer, Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Martins Adogbajale, noted that the youth governance dialogue is a platform for young minds to engage Obasanjo on issues in Africa including receiving mentorship on how to solve these problems.
