Africa Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Omoyele Sowore, has assisted in securing bail from police custody for a man who had earlier criticized him over the alleged hijacking of the October 1 protest.
TVC news of Wednesday, October 2 featured the man lampooning Sowore for allegedly hijacking the protest through the Take It Back Movement, one of the key organisers of the march.
According to the man whose name has not yet been ascertained, he claimed that his group was the mastermind of the protest only for Sowore and the Take It Back Movement to hijack it.
He had said: “When we declared this protest, Sowore and co were not there. This hunger protest was our outcry to express our feelings. And we came online to express it and it touched the whole Nigerians who came out. So, a situation where some people have now turned this protest into something organized by Take It Back is a hijack. This is a complete hijack,” the man screamed.
But on Friday, October 4, Sowore was seen with the man in a video after he reportedly assisted in securing his bail from police custody.
The man may have been part of nine protesters arrested on Wednesday, October 2 for what the police claimed was an act capable of causing breach of public peace because they were at Ojota protesting.
A statement by #EndBadGovernance Movement gave the names of the arrested protesters to be Funmi Robert (60), Sunday Obasoro (24), Sikiru Adeagbo (41), Babatunde Oyeleye (32), Akin Okunowo (50), Dare Toyin (21), Adebayo Shobogun (37), Michael Adeleke (23), and Stanley Akonye (42).
