Portable rails against Dapo Abiodun as his SUV gets stuck in Ogun bad road
By Ishaya Ibrahim
Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus popularly known as Portable has called out governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, over the state’s numerous bad roads.
Portable, who recently returned from the United States after an international tour, protested aloud in a video when his Range Rover got stuck in one of such bad roads.
In the video, while able bodied young men were seen trying to remove the car from a bad spot, Portable used the opportunity to rail on Dapo Abiodun on the bad roads. Onlookers, mainly older women, also joined Portable in demanding that Abiodun fixed the bad road in the community.
Residents of Ogun have in the last couple of weeks taken to social media to call out the governor, Dapo Abiodun, over the horrendous state of the roads.
Several pictures were posted from various locations in the state to show the state of the roads as the Governor refused to lift a finger to fix them five years now in office.
Here are some of the comments of Nigerians on X.
@blessingofgo said: “A governor that cannot fix roads won’t pay minimum wage. See our road at Alagbole Ajuwon akute Lambe Road under the local government area. So terrible. These roads have been like this for years. @DapoAbiodunCON fix our road. Good governance is not rocket science.”
@AMOOMAYOWA6 said: “In every junction on Akute-Alagbole-Ajuwon Road, you will see government representatives collecting tolls from drivers. I was told that the ogun state generates close to N100M monthly from this fee, but yet, for the past decades, our roads have remained in a bad state.”
@HauwaAllahbura said, “Good morning Nigerians. In 2020, when Dapo Abiodun was looking for votes, he said to us on X that he was fixing a few roads listed in his tweets. Here is the condition of some of the roads in his tweet. He fix am abi him no fix am? I will allow you to judge.”
@OAKGbenga said, “I once got trapped around this axis, Sango-Ijoko-Giwa-Okearo and it was raining heavily….My luck that day was having V6 off road Nissan Frontier truck……. That axis has very terrible roads.”
@Ilo_Monsurbj stated, “You will be surprised as to how this road (Ijoko road) is to the Lagos-Abẹ́òkúta Expressway linking Lagos state. But the governor is not interested in completing the road as far as it’s not under Ogun East (his Senatorial district). It’s a matter of time.”
@EastsideIgboboy claimed that Ogun State is the headquarters of bad roads in Nigeria.
@alexottiofr said, “…upon all the big factories in Ota, Ogun State, I still wonder while Sango Ota has very bad roads.”
@yeankhar said, “ROAD OF NOTE: The road leading to the Wole Soyinka Train Station in Abeokuta South is not motorable. If you are passing through Idi Aba via Olokuta to get there, you can literally lose your senses. Abeokuta, a state capital has some of the worst roads ever.”
