Youths in Nasarawa have join the state’s women on day five of protest against the declaration of Abdullahi Sule, as winner of the March 18 governorship election.

The women, who have been protesting  topless, said they did not vote for Governor Sule. They accused him of rigging himself to power and forcing himself on them.

They chanted songs as they moved on major roads in the state bearing placards with inscriptions like, ‘Stop the conspiracy against our people’, ‘INEC should reverse the declaration now’, and ‘Our Vote must count. Ombugadu won’.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Gov. Abdullahi Sule and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election in Nasarawa State.

Prof Ishaya Tanko, INEC State Collation Officer and Returning Officer made the declaration on Monday, March 20 in Lafia at the Nasarawa State Collation Centre.

The INEC returning officer said that the APC candidate polled a total of 347, 209 votes to defeats his closest opponent David Ombugadu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 283, 016 votes.

But the PDP state Chairman, Francis Orogu, said they were outrageously rigged out in the governorship poll.

He said: “Our agent in Nasarawa Council was offered N15 million to compromise the result, but he rejected it, and, yet, they still manipulated the result to suit them.

“We will do the needful to regain the people’s mandate.”
