VIDEO: Greek-Nigerian NBA star, Giannis Antetokounmpo buys own counterfeit Jersey at popular Lagos Market

In a trending video, Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player, Giannis Antetokounmpo is seen buying the counterfeit of his jersey at Balogun Market in Lagos during his 2023 visit to Nigeria.

The experience was shared in recently released WhatsApp short documentary titled “Ugo: A Homecoming Story,” that went viral on Wednesday.

The clip captures the moment Giannis visited Balogun market and negotiated for his fake jersey.

The basketball player spotted his counterfeit jersey for sale while traveling with his entourage.

Exiting his car, Giannis bargained for the jersey with the trader, who was unaware of his identity.

Giannis recalled, “The guy giving me the jersey had no idea who I was.

“He knew Giannis Antetokounmpo but didn’t recognise it was me he was selling the jersey to. That was an even crazier experience.”

In 2023, Giannis Antetokounmpo, raised in Greece, made his first visit to Nigeria alongside his mother, Veronica Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo is a Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). His country of origin, in addition to his size, speed, and strength have earned him the nickname “Greek Freak”. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest power forwards and one of the greatest players of all time.
