Former Cameroonian International and President of the country’s Football Association, Samuel Eto’o, has given an Algerian Youtuber a leg kick outside a stadium at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The video initially shows the 41-year-old indulging fans in selfies and snapshots until the Youtuber, Said Mamouni, asked Eto’o if he bribed referee Bakary Papa Gassama during Cameroon versus Algerian playoff.

Gassama was the referee who officiated the World Cup play-off second leg between Algeria and Cameroon early this year which saw Algeria’s two goals disallowed and their opponent, Cameroon sealing a place in Qatar. The Algerian FA later filed a complaint to FIFA.

Eto’o eventually wrestles himself free from the pacifiers and charges again toward Mamouni and delivers a powerful kick, knocking him to the ground.

Eto’o has released a statement, asking for the feud between Cameroon and Algeria to end.

Titled ‘My sincerest apology, he said: “On last 5 December, after the Brazil-Korea match, I had a violent altercation with a person who was probably an Algeria supporter.

“I would like to apologise for losing my temper and reacting in a way that does not match my personality. I apologise to the public for this unfortunate incident.

“I pledge to continue to resist the relentless provocation and daily harassment of some Algerian supporters. Indeed, since the Cameroon-Algeria match on 29 March in Blida, I have been the target of insults and allegations of cheating without any evidence.”
