The Chief Justice of Nigeria ( CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, has made his first public appearance after an allegation that he secretly sneaked into the United Kingdom to have a meeting with President-Elect, Bola Tinubu.
Legal fireworks arising from the just concluded presidential election are expected to commence at the Court of Appeal at the first instance and terminate at the Supreme Court.
Presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, have already filed petitions challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 election.
A report by Peoples Gazette alleged that Ariwoola left Nigeria on March 11 via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to have a secret meeting with Tinubu to discuss the legal battle arising from his victory at the presidential poll.
The newspaper alleged that Ariwoola used a wheelchair as a disguise while leaving Nigeria to sell the dummy of being a physically-challenged old man on his way to the UK.
According to the report, Ariwoola, upon arrival in London, was also wheeled into a hotel downtown, but immediately after checking into the hotel, he abandoned his wheelchair and started moving around the facility unaided.
The CJN, on Friday, was sighted limping and walking with the aid of a stick while leaving the Supreme Court for the Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, Abuja, to observe his Friday prayers.
