Verification: Claim that Twitter is reviewing policy on Nigeria is fake

-

A tweet claiming to have been made by Twitter on its plan to review its policy to respect Nigeria’s national law is fake.

The tweet, which is a screengrab purportedly from @Policy, the Twitter’s handle that deals with issues around its policies and penalties, does not exist on the internet giant’s timeline.

It is also screenshot which looks like a copycat that leaves out important details, like the time stamp, the @ sign and the absence of an emoji of #KeepItOn.

The tweet claims: “We’re committed to peace, progress and freedom of the Nigerian people. We have reviewed our action & are in communication with the Nigerian government & promise to respect the laws & sovereignty of Nigeria.
