Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has taken down his social media account following the backlash that greeted his recent performance in a FIFA 2023 World Cup qualification match.
Prior to this development, the 25-year-old had come under intense criticism following his poor displays while donning the shirt of the Super Eagles.
Pundits and Super Eagles fans blamed Uzoho for Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup played in Qatar.

According to them, his spilling of a shot from Arsenal’s Thomas Partey resulted in Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with perennial rivals, Ghana’s Black Stars in Abuja and ultimately led to the team’s ouster from the tournament.
Similarly, the Omonia Nicosia goalie conceded cheap goals in recent friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
Following the consecutive 1-1 draws against two Southern African countries, Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Uzoho, who has been capped 32 times by Nigeria once again came under fire for letting in what a lot of fans considered another “howler” in Super Eagles’ draw against Zimbabwe on Sunday.
Nigeria after the two draws, now sit third on the log table behind Rwanda and South Africa and now face a more daunting 2023 World Cup qualifying campaign.
However, after the heavy criticism that trailed Uzoho’s last performance against Zimbabwe, the goalie has now decided to deactivate his X account (now Twitter) @Uzohof.
