UUTH CMD tells youths that unwholesome lifestyle leads to failure

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital UUTH Professor Ettete Peters has advised Nigerian youths to live exemplary life, develop good characters to enable them succeed as future leaders.

 

University of Uyo Teaching HospitalHe gave the charge in Uyo when the executive members of Ibom Future Leaders Forum (IFLF) honoured him with an award of excellence.

He explained that it is only when youths begin to see themselves more as Nigerians and not on tribal sentiment that the country will move forward stressing that ethnicity-based orientation has been the major set-back facing the country since Independence.

 

‘’As the nation move towards economic and social revolution, youth should shun any act that is inimical to their progress, such as cultism, drug addiction, violence crime.

 

“And because studies has shown that living an unwholesome life style has always being the stumbling block to the success and progress of most youths so you must all strive to avoid them.

“The fear of God, good character, values and the ability to impact on lives and the society were marks of successful life,’’ he said.

 

Peters said that there are serious fears among well-meaning Nigerians that if no decisive steps are taken to check the gradual disappearance of altruism and patriotism in virtually all spheres of our national life, the foundations already laid for the nation’s development and greatness by our founding fathers, will certainly cave into oblivion.

 

While thanking the forum for find him worthy of the award, Professor Peters enjoined the group to live a healthy life style and urged them to support the transformation agenda of the Federal Government through self-employment and job creation.

 

Speaking on behalf of his members, the National Co-coordinator of the forum Comrade Michael Etukeren said the Chief Medical Director is an icon in the medical profession and a worthy son to bestowed the award on.
