“If there is no evidence of Mr. Onanuga’s false assertion, I will assume it reasonable that the object is to water the ground for false treasonable felony charges that can result in the claim of one’s life” – Utomi

Pat Utomi, a member of the Labour Party (LP), has threatened a N500 billion lawsuit against Bola Tinubu’s Information and Strategy Adviser Bayo Onanuga over his incendiary allegation that he (Utomi) is one of the masterminds of the mega protest against #Badgovernance and hunger being planned across the country by youths.
Onanuga, who has being the President’s attack dog since the campaign last year, in a post on X on Saturday accused LP National Leader Peter Obi and his supporters of being behind the protest scheduled for between August 1 and 10.
He alleged Utomi – a political economy professor and staunch ally of Obi – and other Obi’s supporters are the organisers of the planned protest against hunger, naira devaluation, and economic hardship across the land.
Utomi on Monday fired back in a statement in which he denied the allegation, disclosed he had been away from the country for quite a while, and advised Onanuga to withdraw his statement or provide evidence of his claims.
“If there is no evidence of Mr. Onanuga’s false assertion, I will assume it reasonable that the object is to water the ground for false treasonable felony charges that can result in the claim of one’s life,” Utomi said.
“I intend to therefore proceed to the international criminal and other human rights courts if a reasonable explanation is not forthcoming.
“I will also have no choice but to institute a claim of N500 billion for fake news, hate speech and intent to procure State murder of an innocent citizen.
“If judicial capture makes justice problematic in Nigeria I expect that I can trust extra-national institutions and global human solidarity.”
