Arsenal legend and SkySports pundit, Paul Merson, has said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United have brilliant individuals who do not play as a team.
Before the match yesterday, the former midfielder had told Sportskeeda that the team’s gaffer does not know his best 11 players.
His words: “Manchester United are struggling, not just in the Premier League. They’ve won just two of their last six games in all competitions and it doesn’t look to me as if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows what his best team is, which is a massive worry.
The 53-year-old picked up from there after the match, to say United’s performance in the difficult fixtures ahead of them will likely determine their season.
He also said on the strength of what he saw yesterday, United does not look like a team that can scale through the fixtures.
” I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in a spot of bother.
“I said before the game that if (Solskjaer)
” If he can get through November still in the job, then they would have every chance of winning the league because they have some shocking fixtures – and this was the start of it and they have been beaten. Merson reiterated.
He went further to say the win does not flatter Leicester and added that he has predicted that Arsenal will finish ahead of United given how poorly they played.
“Leicester Thoroughly deserved it too.
“Manchester United is struggling. I’ve said that Arsenal could finish above them in the top four and I haven’t changed my mind. He added
The former midfielder finally said the manager is under massive pressure because United are a team of individuals who don’t play like a fluid unit, and that they have weaknesses in the team.
“They are individuals, they are not a team. They haven’t got legs all around the pitch and because Ronaldo can’t go in behind defenses, the other teams are all pushing up on them and that means Pogba doesn’t get time on the ball. For me, Solskjaer is under severe pressure.” Paul Merson concluded.
United lost away to Leicester City and as a result of that, they are now 5 points behind league leader Chelsea; they have been pushed further to 5th position with Everton yet to play.
