A political group under the umbrella of Ukwa/Ngwa All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum in Old Aba division of Abia State, South East zone has called the National leadership of the party to urgently convoke a Reconciliatory Committee in Abia State to douse the rancour within the State chapter of the party and engender genuine reconciliation of the different factions of the party.

The group noted with dismay that the party’s dismal performance in the State in the just concluded election was due to irreconcilable differences amongst the leadership of the different factions within the party.

According to the communique signed by Barr. Chika C. Uhuaba and Dr Nnaemeka E. Otagburuagu, chairman and secretary respectively, the Forum states as follows:

“That the National leadership of the party should as a matter of urgency convoke a Reconciliatory Committee in Abia State to engender genuine reconciliation of the different factions of the party, the group having observed that the dismal performance of the party in the state in the just concluded election was as a result of irreconcilable differences amongst the leadership of the different factions within the party.

“That membership of the reconciliatory committee shall be composed of an admixture of the old and younger breed of politicians in the party contrary to the hitherto position where the old breed politicians who are based outside the state are appointed to sensitive positions without impacting on the grass root.

“That an Ukwa/Ngwa indigene of the Old Aba Zone should be nominated /recommended for the ministerial slot for Abia State upon the inauguration of the president-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 29th May 2023, as the above accords with equity and fairness, an Ukwa/Ngwa indigene having not been appointed a federal minister under the APC led government.

“That the present reward system observed by the party whereby those who openly worked against the party’s interest during elections/electioneering periods are rewarded with plumb and juicy positions/appointments should be discouraged by the present leadership of the party.
