Atletico Madrid’s Manager, Diego Simeone, has reacted to the 2-0 (3-0 on aggregate) to Chelsea which forced his side out of the Champions League.
The spanish giant failed to stage a comeback against the Bblues formidable team at Stamford Bridge in the second leg played on Wednesdays night.
Atletico Madrid were quite good from the opening minutes compared to the first leg performance, and they were better until the Savic’s red card at 81 minutes, before Emerson sealed the victory at stoppage time in addition to Hakim Ziyech’s opener in the first half.
However, Simeone said after the defeat to Chelsea:
“We tried to go and press them, but they were able to get out of it, and we could not keep up with them.”
On the penalties incidents, he said, “No, we are not looking for excuses. We were beaten by a better team.”
Recall that Tuchel had said after he took the Chelsea job that he wanted to build a team that could hurt anyone.
