Italian giant, Juventus, hosted English Premier League side and UEFA Champions League (UCL) defending champion, Chelsea, in a Group H UCL clash in Turin, Italy this evening.
Chelsea started the brightest, dominating ball possession and having more shots on target. However, the first half ended without a goal to show for their effort.
The host stepped up the tempo of the game after the break and scored just a minute into the second half through Fedrico Chiesa after receiving a pass from Federico Bernardeschi.
After the goal, which remained Juventus only shot on target, Chelsea took control of the game once again and dominated the second half, but Juventus remained resolute and won the game 1-0.
Juventus win takes them clear at the top with six points, while Chelsea remained second with three points despite the loss. They are on the same point with Zenith St Petersburg who is third in the group.
In other games, Manchester United came from behind to defeat Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal 2-1, while Barcelona was trashed 3-0 by Benfica.
