Head Operations, United Bank of Africa (UBA), Nasir Rahman, said that the engine of any society is SMEs.

According to him, if the government can support small businesses that can employ at least five people in a community that means five thousand people will be employed and there will be a reduction in unemployment.

He frowned at the government’s attitude of closing down shops and asking for taxes instead of supporting them to grow.

“Government must find a way to support SMEs and not close their eyes if we must grow as a country because SMEs are the engine of any society,” he said.
