After the expiration of the December 31, 2019 ultimatum by labour unions to state governors to complete the minimum wage negotiations, only six states have reportedly agreed to pay.
President, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Comrade Quadri A Olaleye, gave the figure on January 9, at the end of its National Executive Council meeting in Lagos.
The union gave all state governments who have not complied with the payment of the N30, 000 new National Minimum Wage to commence negotiations and implement it by January 31, 2020 or face industrial action.
He also disclosed that State councils have been directed to commence mobilisation of their members immediately.
Ekiti, Cross River, Benue, Gombe, Ogun, Sokoto, Oyo, Niger, Osun, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, Kwara, Taraba, and Anambra have reportedly not agreed on consequential adjustments of salaries.
Lagos, Kaduna, Bauchi, Kastina, had agreed to pay the N30, 000 new minimum wage.
Other states started negotiations few days to the end of the December 31, 2019 ultimatum.
