Triumphant DSS FC presents Dana Cup to NFF

The victorious Dynamic Sports Solutions (DSS) FC of Kaduna, which last week won the Dana Cup for U19 players in Hjorring, Denmark has returned to the country.

On Tuesday, players and officials of the club were at the NFF Secretariat, Abuja to present the giant trophy, as well as the trophy for the top scorer won by the team at the tournament, to the NFF leadership.

Chairman of the club, Mr. Sunday Adeleye, confirmed to our correspondent that the Kaduna –based club defeated Janbers FC of the USA 2-0 in the final match, and scored 34 goals in nine matches on its way to winning the tournament, which took place between July 26 and 30, 2016.

Receiving the team at the Glass House, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi applauded the players and officials for not only doing Nigeria proud on the field, but also off the field.

“The NFF keeps preaching that teams representing the country should always endeavor to do the nation proud on the field and off it. Off the field, football players and teams must always comport themselves appropriately and shun acts that are capable of tarnishing the country’s image.

“Your performance on the field was also gratifying, scoring 34 goals in nine matches and winning this giant trophy and the top scorer’s trophy. I commend you on behalf of the NFF leadership and the Nigeria football family and urge you to keep up this great spirit as you grow in the game.”

Also on hand to receive the team were Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, Technical Director, Mr. Bitrus Bewarang, Director of Finance, Mr. Atabo David and Director of Competitions, Mr. Bola Oyeyode.
