Trippier says Declan Rice is better than Casemiro, Partey

Trippier was a teammate of Partey and Rice at club and international levels respectively, he also played against Casemiro while he was at Athletico Madrid

Newcastle United right-back, Kieran Trippier has said his England teammate, Declan Rice is a better player than Thomas Partey of Arsenal and Manchester United’s Casemiro.

Trippier played alongside Partey at Atletico Madrid where he also faced Casemiro at Real Madrid, while he and Rice are teammates in England’s national side.

Partey and Casemiro have been instrumental to their clubs’ transformation this season, while Arsenal is top of the Premier League with 50 points after 20 games, Man United are third and in one of the automatic Champions League places.

Asked to pick who is the better player among the three defensive midfielders, the England international told FIVE: “Declan… Declan’s unbelievable.

“Probably one of the best in the world in what he does.”

On whether he rates his national teammate above Brazil international, Casemiro, Trippier replied: “Yeah.

“As defenders like me, you appreciate the likes of Michael Carrick or Declan, it makes your job easier, they’re just mopping everything up.

“Casemiro…is a world-class player, but if you’re talking right now, Dec is incredible, he’s got the age as well.”

Declan Rice, who currently plays for West Ham United is a subject of transfer speculation in the summer, as Premier League leaders, Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked to him.
