So much has happened and still ongoing in Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde’s life that has made her a source of inspiration for many people, even as many envy her, especially in the area of her matrimony.
The Yahoo-crowned Nollywood Cornerstone got married at an early age of 18 to Captain Matthew Ekeinde ever before she became a movie star – though her Nollywood film debut was in 1995. What actually stands Omosexy out is that she never allowed fame to get into her head.
She is one of the few celebrities who have been able to keep their marriages intact despite the high rate of accusations of infidelity and eventual divorce in the entertainment industry.
Although Omotola had once revealed that she doubted if she could have been able to stay with another man because “I don’t think there is any man that can handle me apart from my husband. Not because I am a bad person, it is because I am a very strong personality.”
She however gave an insight into one of the reasons her marriage is still intact: understanding from her husband.
“My husband goes to the market to do our shopping. It is unbelievable to many people, but he does. There was a time I went with him to Tejuosho market, but I stayed back in the car. Unfortunately someone recognised me and I was almost lynched. Ever since then, he has taken it over and I don’t take advantage of it,” she explained.
If other celebrities can take a cue from this rare show of love and understanding, probably, coupled with some other ingredients, we would witness a reduction in divorce rate in the showbiz industry.
