Tiwa Savage defends Ayra Starr’s short skirts, says ‘Make it shorter’

Tiwa Savage while backing Ayra Starr’s dress sense, also recounted how she was criticised over her “sexy” fashion style in the early days of her career

Ace Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage has defended her colleague, Ayra Starr, whom she claimed Nigerians have been calling out for her dress sense.

She made a case for her during a recent interview with Kiss FM, UK, where she also recounted how she was heavily criticised over her “sexy” fashion style in the early days of her career.

The mother of one went on to recall how  she was thrown under the bus for her “risky” lyrics as a youngster.

She further disclosed that she is obsessed with Ayra Starr because of her own experience.

She, however, noted that the 21-year-old singer has continued to shine on the global music scene despite the criticisms hauled at her by Nigerians over the way she dresses.

Speaking during the chat Tiwa Savage said, “I love Ayra [Starr]. I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing and genuine, too. It makes me emotional because when I started, I got criticised a lot for dressing too sexy and my lyrics being too risky.

“So, seeing someone, Ayra now…If I see her wearing the short skirts as they [critics] say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’

“And she looks amazing, she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.”
