President Bola Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, has aimed a dig at leading opposition figures in the country, following the poor outing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in the just concluded by-elections.
He mocked them via a short post he shared on his official X page on Monday morning.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted by-elections on Saturday, August 16, in 16 constituencies across 12 states of the country.
Opposition leaders, who are targeting President Tinubu’s removal in 2027, participated in the election via ADC, to test their popularity.
However, after results were declared, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), cleared the majority of the seats, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) recording some victories.
Reacting to the outcome of the by-elections, Onanuga shared a picture of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai with the caption: “How is the market now?”
His remark, which was seen as a taunt by netizens, comes amid renewed questions about the relevance and strength of opposition parties going into the 2027 general election.
