Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna State, asserts that while appointing ministers, Bola Tinubu embraced serpents and rewarded vultures.
Making this claim in a tweet shortly after the Nigerian Senate revealed the 28-person cabinet list presented to the Senate by the president’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Mr Sani warned that the nominees could be detrimental to the President Tinubu-led government.
“The Ministerial list; The President embraced some Serpents with a known history of treachery and rewarded some vultures for playing the Judas,” a tweet by Sani read.
The former senator further warned that appeasing a snake in a palace doesn’t spare the King.
His remarks come as Nyesom Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a chieftain of the main opposition party, was named by President Tinubu as one of the 28 candidates to be confirmed for a cabinet post by the National Assembly.
President Tinubu’s win in Rivers State in 2023 was greatly aided by Wike, who worked against his party.
After Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, won the party’s presidential nomination, Wike fell out with his party; However, Mr. Atiku’s unwillingness to name the former governor of Rivers as his running mate exacerbated the party’s dilemma, which eventually led to the establishment of the G-5 governors who opposed Atiku’s bid for the presidency.
