Tinubu never built Lagos, “I know his capacity,” Lamido insists

Bola Tinubu never built the modern Lagos and lacks the capacity to get things right in Nigeria, former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido has clapped back at the President’s hype men who ignored other factors and other people to ascribe to Tinubu the sole man who developed Lagos and used that platform to parachute him to the Villa.

Lamido, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bared his mind in an interview on Channels Television where he argued that Lagos, when it was the country’s political capital, enjoyed huge federal government presence and patronage which laid the foundation for its economic progress.

“I know him [Tinubu] when he was under SDP [Social Democratic Party]; when he was the Secretary of the party. I also knew him as Governor of Lagos State. I know him very well and I know his capacity, I know what he can do,” he recounted.

“I know what he cannot do. Luckily today, he is there on top of the country. He never built Lagos.

“Lagos was built with Nigerian money – I mean the [sea]port, the airport, the bridges.  So, when you say Tinubu built Lagos; he never built Lagos.

“The [federal] government [under Tinubu] is doing almost everything wrong.”

Lamido faulted the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project amid the clamour for a new minimum wage by Labour.

In his view, if the government can embark on the project with prudent management of resources, Nigeria can easily pay a new minimum wage as demanded by workers.

“There is money in Nigeria. If they do it [Lagos-Calabar coastal road], they can pay any minimum wage.”
