Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading the vote count after the declaration of presidential election results in 20 states by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC said by Monday night, Tinubu had scored 5,862,453 votes, followed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 4,288,434 votes, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) on 2,834,932; and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on 1,315,549.

However, Tinubu is the only top contender who failed to win his home state, losing Lagos to Obi. And Atiku clinched Katsina, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, venue of the national collation centre, remains under tight security, per reporting by Daily Post.

There is jubilation in the Tinubu camp. But LP agents teamed up with their counterparts in the PDP on Monday to walk out of the national collation centre over complaints that results were not transmitted from polling units.

The opposition parties sought the suspension of the announcement of results, alleging irregularities, manual transmission of results, over-voting, refusal of INEC officials to upload results on the INEC website, among others.

Results have been announced from 79,673 out of the 176,846 polling units in the 774 local government areas nationwide.
