Atiku, Tinubu – if the two go head-to-head, Tinubu may take the day going by the results of several Twitter polls gleaned on the App

In a number of polls on Twitter, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar fared poorly against a leader of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, indicating a depleting interest for the Turakin Adamawa among the youthful population.
TheNiche gleaned the results of several polls on Twitter by entering in the App’s search space the names of Atiku and Tinubu. The results showed many Twitter users who have conducted the mock election for the two gladiators.
As at the time of filing this report, all the results from more than a dozen handles put Tinubu far ahead of Atiku.

When the same method was used to check Tinubu vs Peter Obi, Peter Obi defeated Tinubu overwhelmingly.
The pollsters asked Twitter users to either Like for Atiku and Retweet for Tinubu or the other way round. None of the polls placed Atiku ahead of Tinubu, whom many believe may be the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election.
The growing apathy for Atiku in the 2023 election may not be unconnected with the clamour for a Southern president.
In the 2019 election, Atiku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was the toast of the youths on social media. He trounced President Muhammadu Buhari in most of the polls conducted by even Buhari loyalists.
For instance, in the build-up to the 2019 election, Joe Abah, an advocate of good governance, ran a poll for four weeks for Buhari and Atiku. The idea was to allow voters who wish to change their minds the opportunity to do so in between the four weeks. Atiku came top in the first three weeks of the poll and increased his lead until the last week of the poll by almost 70 per cent.
In the main election, Atiku won in most of the Southern States, with the exception of four South-West states where he lost albeit narrowly to Buhari, who consolidated his win by sweeping the North.
In 2023, Atiku appears to be facing resistance in the South, his stronghold. Adding North, which traditionally is his waterloo, the coast looks bleak for the former Vice President.
