Tinubu assures INEC ‘ll be neutral in Edo, sues for peace, civility

Tinubu also said he believes in the ability of Edo people to make informed decisions about their future leaders

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians and all the political parties participating in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Edo State that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is committed to conducting a free and fair election.

He made this known in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. where he appealed to the governorship candidates, political parties, and supporters to respect the democratic process and the people’s will.

He also called on all stakeholders in the September 21 governorship election to conduct themselves peacefully and sportingly.

Tinubu said he believes Edo people have the ability to make informed decisions when picking their future leaders, stressing that democracy thrives on civility, tolerance, patience, and respect for the rules of the game.

“We believe in the people’s ability to make informed decisions about their future leaders.”the said.

The President went on to commend the governorship candidates and political parties for their campaigns, which have focused on issues that matter most to the people of Edo State, including improving livelihoods, promoting economic growth, and contributing to national development.

He urged Edo residents to remain peaceful and respectful throughout the voting process, encouraging them to resolve any disagreements amicably through the constituted authorities.

Tinubu expressed unwavering confidence in the professionalism and integrity of security agencies and INEC officials.

He also urged them to remain impartial and avoid any actions that could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
