Tinubu admits he inherited liabilities from predecessor, Buhari

Tinubu, however, vowed not to give excuses despite the liabilities he inherited from the previous govt

President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that he inherited serious liabilities from fellow All Progressives Party (APC) chieftain and predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the disclosure via a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale. after a meeting with the Vice-President (Country Programs) of the Islamic Development Bank, Mansur Muhtar, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Tinubu while discussing with the bank’s Vice-President also opens up that he inherited some assets from the previous administration.

The president went on to say despite the liabilities inherited and the challenges he is facing,  he does not intend to give excuses.

Speaking during the meeting, Tinubu said: “We inherited serious liabilities, but also assets from our predecessors. We do not make any excuses.

“There are several sectors replete with investment opportunities for smart investors.

“Access to finance and guarantees can be a hindrance in some cases. You can come in there. We see you as a critical enabler.

“You have partnered with us before. We want to scale it up now and do much more with greater ambition and clearer vision.”
