All three Nigerians out of Top Actor Africa

-

First, it was Uriel Oputa, then Ifeanyi Dike, now it is Tobechi Nneji bringing an end to the quest of Nigerians in the BET Top Actor Africa.
Nneji became the last Nigerian contestant to be evicted from the ongoing BET Top Actor Africa after nine weeks of intense competition. Dike was evicted the previous week during the ‘Wild Coast Sun Commercial’ Challenge, while Oputa was the first Nigerian contestant to be evicted seven weeks into the competition.
Following Nneji’s eviction on the episode which featured Hollywood actress Erica Ash, BET has revealed that Jesse Suntele (South Africa), Shamilla Miller (South Africa) and Alex Khayo (Kenya) are the finalists in the dramatic reality contest.
Nneji, who failed to make the cut, took her final curtain call on the show last week. She, alongside three other contestants, were tasked with the “Romantic Period Piece” challenge. The actors were later joined by Ash (Real Husbands of Hollywood and Survivor Remorse), as they embarked on their toughest challenge to date. While Suntele, Miller and Khayo rose up to the task, Nneji, got emotional and was evicted.
Oputa’s eviction came after contestants received their biggest challenge since the show began, a complex crime drama short film, separated into three scenes (crime scene, crime lab and courtroom trial). The episode had featured a surprise appearance from Jay Ellis (BET’s The Game), who served as a mentor to the contestants and guest judge.
Contestants were once again handed a curve ball as Suntele and Dike’s roles got switched at the last minute which sent them scrambling.
As the last three contestants approach the final hurdle, they will be tasked with a final challenge, “Action Movie”, in which they will have to pull out all the stops to convince the judges that they deserve the Top Actor Africa crown.
With just a few weeks remaining until the winner is announced, BET viewers will be able to vote for their favourite top actor at BET’s website. The winner will be revealed on May 24.
The contestants are competing for the grand prize that includes $10,000, international representation and access to Hollywood auditions. Hosted by South African film and television star, Zikhona Sodlaka (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Generations), Top Actor Africa sees promising actors on the continent duke it out on camera in front of big industry names from Hollywood and South Africa.
