Three dead, others rescued as another building collapses in Lagos

LASEMA said SEHMU has been contacted to evacuate the remains of the three people who lost their lives in the incident

Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of three people, following the  collapse of a building located at number 13, Wilson Mba Street, Arowojobe Estate Maryland.

According to an eye witness, the unfortunate incident occurred in the whee hours of Thursday.

He also added that officials of LASEMA are currently on rescue operation at the scene of the incident.

Speaking on the development, the LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, said two persons and another one trapped under rubbles were rescued.

He, however, noted that three people lost their lives, while the three people who were rescued are receiving “pre-hospital care”.

He further said the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) has been contacted to evacuate the remains of the three people who lost their lives in the incident

Oke-Osanyitolu said, “Three adult males were recovered dead, two male adults were rescued alive, and one adult male trapped under the rubble was rescued alive by the LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire service.

“All the six men were site workers. They are receiving pre-hospital care on location while SEHMU has been contacted for the remains of the 3 fatalities.”

The latest incident follows a series of building collapse in Lagos State and other parts of the country.
