Thirteen national teams that are Qatar bound

Thirteen national teams have booked their places at next year’s World Cup in Qatar, leaving 19 spaces to be filled before the soccer fiesta kicks off

At the end of the last international break, a total of Thirteen national teams had booked their places at the 2022 World Cup.

Qatar became the first country to qualify for the Mundial, being the tournament’s host. They, therefore, qualify automatically, courtesy of their status.

The oil-rich country will be participating in the tournament for the first time in their history, as they have never made it past the qualifiers before.

European powerhouse, Germany, were the first to qualify through a qualifier but the second overall, they earned qualification after topping Group J of the UEFA qualifying series.

Denmark qualified from Group F as the winner of the group, qualification became certain after their 1-0 defeat of Austria.

South American perennial representative, Brazil, became the first team to seal their spot from the continent. 

They achieved this courtesy of a 1-0  win over  Colombia.  Argentina joined them after a draw against Brazil and a Chile defeat to Ecuador.

Belgium and France confirmed their qualification on the same day, as Group E and Group D winners respectively. 

Croatia booked their place at the Mundial as Group H winner, they defeated Russia 1-0 in a winner-takes-it-all clash. 

Spain finished top of Group B to book their place, but Serbia qualified ahead of Portugal in Group A after a shocking 2-1 victory over them.

England qualified after a 10-0 demolition of  San Marino. The Netherlands booked their spot in with a 2-0 win over Norway, they topped Group G ahead of Turkey. 

Switzerland completed the list of the Thirteen national teams that have qualified, they qualify as Group C winners, ahead of the reigning European champion, Italy.
