“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Love is a noun – “….so loved the world….”
God’s love is not ordinary. The addition of “so” is expressive of the magnitude of love that God has for us. God’s love was not earned or merited, but He chose to bestow that love on us. It was given freely to mankind and as children of God, we are to emulate our Father. Let’s remember that the word of God says “Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God”. Love must be expressed. Love is not dumb. Love speaks. If you love someone, open up your mouth and say it. Love should come natural to us, if we are truly children of God.
Love is a verb – “He gave…”
Love is an action word. Love gives and is unselfish. Love releases and let’s go of what it has in its hands. Love doesn’t take or demand anything in return. The true test of love is selfless giving. Anyone who claims to love and doesn’t give is not truly in love. Love gives its resources, time, support etc. Love should be given freely without cohesion or force.
Love is sacrificial – “…only begotten Son…”
When in love, you willingly give the best of what you have without thinking twice about it. Sometimes, it’s the only thing in your hands. Which naturally means that the other person has and you have none. Love doesn’t give what costs nothing. Anyone that loves without releasing only the best has not demonstrated true love. That’s the sacrifice of love. Loves releases only the best.
Love doesn’t pick and chose – “…that whosoever believeth in Him…”
Love doesn’t discriminate. Love never disqualifies anyone. Anyone open to love will find love. There is no shortage of love, and there is enough love to go round the world. If you are yet to find love, then wait for it. Your love will come. Whosoever believes in love will find love because God is love. Everyone is worthy of love and to receive love. God loves everyone. No matter what you have done and/or how you may have been treated badly by people, there is someone somewhere that God has placed on this earth to bring to life the extent of His love for you. Your love will come. Love will surely find you.
Love saves – “…shall not perish…”
Love is redemptive. No matter how bad your situation is, love is able to heal and save you. You just need to open up to love and you will be saved. Love cleans up your past. Love will not make you cry. Love doesn’t make ashamed. Love does not fear. Embracing God’s love puts you in the position of new life. Death and destruction will flee because you will not perish.
Love rewards – “…eternal life”
Love comes back to you. Love begets love. Love gives joy. When you have love, it’s evident for all to see. You will exude peace and joy, and the whole world will know. When you love, you receive love. There will be joy in your life and you will reign with Christ. There are no downsides to love. Love always wins. Love God and embrace His sacrifice this Easter season.
Happy Easter.
