Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has issued a subtle warning to his goalkeeper Andre Onana, urging him to  “step up” his game after his shaky start with the Premier League club.

The Cameroon international joined the Red Devils in a £47.2million deal from Serie A aide, Inter this summer.

But despite receiving praise for his distribution prior to joining Man United,  Onana has come under fire after mistakes against Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and Brentford.

Ten Hag is, however, adamant that Onana will start to show more consistency, despite urging him to improve his performance.

“‘For Andre, it is good to know, from that little bit of history, but also we live now and we live in the future. He has to make his future by making better performances.

“I’m sure he will do that and he has already shown that so many times in big clubs like Barcelona, when he was young. At Ajax, he was in the semi-final of the Champions League. He was in the final of the Champions League [last season with Inter],” Ten Hag said.
