Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag has pointed accusing finger at the centre referee in his side’s pre-season friendly 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday morning.

The Dutch tactician watched as the Gunners came from the back to beat the Red Devils at SoFi Stadium.

Rasmus Hojlund put United ahead in the 10th minute but goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli in the 26th and 81st minutes respectively ensured that Mikel Arteta’s side ended up with the bragging right.

However, speaking at his post-match interview, Ten Hag insisted that his team lost due to a poor offside call by the referee.

He also said the friendly encounter was played at a very good level, adding that Man United was the better team in the first half

Ten Hag said, “I think [the game] was a very good level for the third week of pre-season, from both sides, but in the first half I thought we were the better team.

“We scored a very good goal, a very good ball in behind from [Marcus] Rashford and then [Rasmus] Hojlund with a very good move and a finish, I was very pleased.

“We also created some more good chances and we then conceded the goal which was offside.”
