Ace Afrobeats star and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed her desire to join the Nigerian movie industry in the future.
The Grammy-winning Nigerian singer made this known during a recent interview with BBC Capital Xtra London.
According to Tems, who was raised by a single mother, she would like to play the role of a single mum in the movie.
She, however, added that the single mother will have to be financially comfortable and not struggling.

Speaking during the chat, Tems said: “I’m ready to act in movies. Not ready right now but I’m already good at acting.
“The first character I would love to play is a single mum. It doesn’t need to be struggling. It could be like a fun single mum or a single mum that has mysteries. A gangster.”
Prior to her disclosure, other Nigerian celebrities such as Davido, Wizkid and Mr Eazi have spoken about their desires to play a role in the Nigerian movie scene.
However, these artistes unlike Tem, do not want to be actors but would like to participate in the industry as movie executives.
