Taraba mourns, as commissioner passes on

The Taraba State Commissioner for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Naphtali Kefas, has passed away.

  He died on Thursday night at the Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, the state capital, after a protacted illnesses.

    It was however gathered that Naphtali had been in and out off hospital even before he was appointed as a commissioner in the Cabinet of Governor Darius Ishaku.

  His death was confirmed by the Commissioner of Information, Danjuma Anyize Adamu.

  He confirmed that he died at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Jalingo.

The late Kefas was the candidate for People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency and lost to Danjuma Usman Shidi of All Progressive Grand Alliance  (APGA).

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ishaku on Media and Publicity,  Bala Dan Abu, said the death of Naphtali Kefas in less than a year of his appointment as a member of the state Executive  Council was a colossal lost to the state, describing him as a patriotic and hard-working gentleman.

   In the same vein, Governor Darius Ishaku has condoled with the chairman,  the people of Wukari Local Government Area where the deceased hailed from and the family of the commissioner.

  Our Correspondent who was at the Tecnobat Estate Mill Six where the late commissioner was residing reports that social distance was maintained as cars were parked not close to each other.

    This is the second time Taraba was losing a serving commissioners in less than one month as the Commissioner for Rural Electricfication, Alexander Markus Sallau, died last month April.
