Taraba State Governor, Mr. Darius Dickson Ishaku, on Friday presented the 2021 budget of N139,460,435,961 to the state House of Assembly for consideration.
Tagged, “Budget of Restoration and Stabilization’’, the governor said that it would meet the needs of the state government.
Presenting the budget, the governor disclosed that prudent management of resources, accountability and transparency were his watch words.
He explained that the recurrent expenditure was N82,910,048,650, while the capital expenditure would be N56,550,387,310. He added that the 2021 spending was lower than the budget estimate of 2020 with N76 billion.
Ishaku further disclosed that his giant strides on the principle of transparency accountability and citizens’ participation in governance has earned Taraba State membership of the Nigeria Open Governance (OGP). On behalf of the House, the Speaker, Dr. Joseph Albasu Kunini, assured the governor and Tarabans of their maximum cooperation to see that the budget came to reality by ensuring that the house deliberated and passed the budget into law for onward assent of the governor, reiterating that the cordial relationship between the executives and the legislature has stabilized and brought development to the state.
