Sylvester Oromoni ‘killers’ out on bail, house masters still in police net, cousin laments plot to bury case

Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old student of Dowen College, died exactly one month ago. The autopsy has not been disclosed by the police

Perri Oromoni, cousin of Sylvester Oromoni,the 12-year-old deceased student of Dowen College fatally beaten by his schoolmates, has lamented how the police refused to disclose details of the autopsy of his cousin.

Perri, in a tweet,  said while the house masters of Dowen College  are still locked up in police cell, the “killers” have been freed on bail. 

In the tweet on his Twitter handle @perrisonoromoni, he  praised senior lawyer, Femi Falana for putting the police on their toes,  adding that if not for him, the case of Sylvester Oromoni death would have been closed like many others.

In the tweet, which he said was one month since Sylvester Oromoni died, Perri said: “Today’s made it a month since my little cousin was brutally taken from us. Have the killers been brought to book? Nah, arrested and bailed but the house masters remained locked up.Second Autopsy carried out by the Lagos police is been hoarded like palliative (reference to COVID-19 palliative hoarded by many state governments unto citizens discovered them and carted them away.)”

In another tweet, Perri said: “Are we surprised? Nope. This is Nigeria after all. But for Mr Femi Falana this case would have been closed like many other similar cases. Lots of twists and turns. we need clarity on the court date from the authorities #Justiceforsylvester.”

TheNiche had reported that Sylvester Oromoni died two days after battling internal injuries he sustained from battery he received from his  fellow students. 

Dowen College had earlier claimed the injuries were caused by a fall during a football match. 

But Perri, the cousin of  Sylvester Oromoni revealed on his Twitter handle, @Perrisonoromoni, that his  12-year-old cousin was battered for refusing to join a cult group in the school. He said a series of tests and X-rays indicated that he sustained internal injuries from the beaten he received from five of his school colleagues.
