The Nigeria Women senior team has resumed training ahead of the second leg of the Africa Women Championship (AWC) qualifier against Rwanda slated for June 7.
Nigeria won the first leg 4-1 at the Umuganda Stadium in Gisenyi, Rwanda last weekend.
The team returned to the country on Monday afternoon and was given a day off by Coach Edwin Okon to recover from the strains of the trip and also to relate with their loved ones.
The team was warmly received at the airport by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Director of Competitions, Mohammed Sanusi and at their Serob Legacy hotel camp by the players who did not make the trip.
Coach Okon urged the players to fight to make the team next time even as he warned those that beat Rwanda that their place in the team is not automatic.
“We should not be complacent because we won the first leg away, we have to work hard and show them that our win in Gisenyi is not a fluke by winning by a higher score line.
“Those of you who did not travel, you still have a chance to break into the squad if you raise your game, ”he said.
Meanwhile, the two foreign based professional players that made the trip, Onome Ebi and Desire Oparanozie are still waiting for words from their respective clubs in Turkey and Belarus to know whether to return or stay back till after the second leg.
