Super Falcons forward, Omorinsola Babajide has said the celebration of her goal during Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over Tunisia was in honour of late Liverpool striker, Diogo Jota.
She made this known, while speaking after she and her teammates eased past the North African side on Sunday.
Babajide grabbed a goal, and an assist in the Group B encounter against Tunisia played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca, Morocco.
The former UD Tenerife star set up Asisat Oshoala for Nigeria’s opening goal in the fourth minute, and scored the second in the 45th minute.

Another substitute, Chiwendu Ihezuo, wrapped the game up with another goal in the second half.
While discussing the way she celebrated the goal, Babajide said it was a heartfelt tribute to late Reds star, Diogo Jota, and his brother, who recently lost their lives in an auto crash.
She said, “It was for Diogo Jota and his brother as well. That was like one of his biggest celebrations at the club, especially. We call it the signature celebration really.”
Babajide will face a tough fight to keep her place in the starting line-up when Nigeria take on Botswana in their second group game on Wednesday.
This is because, Esther Okoronkwo, who replaced her after the break bagged an assist, and was named Woman of the Match.
