The Uyo camp of the Super Eagles is bustling with activity as the team prepares for their crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier against South Africa this Friday. With no fewer than 15 players already in training, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation and determination.

This match is a must-win for the Super Eagles, who are under the new guidance of coach Finidi George. George is keen to steer the team back on course after a disappointing start to their campaign, which saw them secure only two points from their first two matches under former coach Jose Peseiro.

The new Team Media Officer (TMO) of the Super Eagles, Promise Efoghe, reported that 13 players participated in the first training session yesterday. This group included Leicester City stars Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, as well as local talents Sadiq Ismael from Remo Stars, Kenneth Igboke from Enugu Rangers, and Ojo Olorunleke from Enyimba. Later in the day, Chidozie Awaziem and Alhassan Yusuf joined the squad for the second session.
