Super Eagles beat Coton Sport 2-0 ahead of Egypt encounter

Musa, Chukwueze were on target as Super Eagles beat Cameroonian club, Coton Sport in a friendly played in Garoua, Cameroon on Friday

The Super Eagles made light work of the warm-up game against the one-time Cameroonian champions, Coton Sport with goals from Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze in each half.

The match which was played in Garoua on Friday was arranged as part of the preparation for the Eagles ahead of their 2021 AFCON Group D opener against Egypt on Tuesday.

Ahmed Musa opened the scoring in the first half before Samuel Chukwueze doubled the Eagles’ advantage in the second half to end the clash 2-0 in favour of the Super Eagles.

Interim boss, Austin Eguaoven, put out two different teams in each half.

Starting for the Super Eagles in the friendly were Maduka Okoye in goal, Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo, and Zaidu Sanusi in defence.

The midfield had Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo, and Chidera Ejuke while Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa, and Taiwo Awoniyi led the attack.

In the course of the first half, Musa was replaced by Alex Iwobi.

In the second half, Francis Uzoho was in goal, while Olisa Ndah and Semi Ajayi were the center-backs alongside Chidozie Awaziem.

Frank Onyeka, Kelechi Nwakali, and Alex Iwobi played from the middle of the park while Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze flanked Sadiq Umar upfront.

Iwobi and Sanusi were the only players from the first half who retained their places.

However, Iwobi later made way for Henry Onyekuru and Umar was replaced by Peter Olayinka.

Meanwhile, there will be another practice game between the Eagle’s first and second eleven, before  Nigeria begin their quest to win a fourth title against Egypt.
