Sultan commissions N74.7m primary school in Bauchi

His Eminence Sultan Muhammad  Abubakar has commissioned the N74. 7 million primary school named after him in Miya village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

  While commissioning the Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar Primary School in Miya, Abubakar said that there was the need to put efforts all together to provide learning place for the future generations.

He expressed appreciation to the Miya community and the Bauchi State government for naming the school after him.

  According to him, the initiative for the construction of the school came from his last visit to Miya in 2010.

  He said that during the visit the people requested for school accommodation and lamented poor school structures in the community.

  He said, “I deliberated with the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, on how to come to the aid of the community. We sought for the support of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja and the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) over construction and renovation of the primary school.

   “Luckily, the two institutions  made a concerted effort and brought the resources for the construction of some blocks, renovated some, build new brand mosque and fenced the school to provide security. ”

  The Sultan also assured of his continued support of the primary school that was named after him.

He donated 10 sets of computer to the primary school, and urged to state government to upgrade the school to boarding school to enable students across the state benefit.

  The Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Yahaya Yero, had commended Sultan Abubakar for his effort in providing intervention project to Miya community.

  “The project was successfully executed by UBEC / SUBEB at the total cost of N74,745,029.19. Similarly, his Excellency Governor Mohammed Abubakar approved 15,230,600.00 for furnishings and commissioning of the school ,” he said.
