Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge of the club.
The development comes a day after Spurs’ dismal 2-1 defeat at home against Newcastle on Tuesday.
The result leaves the Premier League club sitting in 16th place, just five points above the drop zone.
Asked if he believed he would be in charge for the derby against Arsenal following the loss to the Magpies, Frank replied: “Yes, I am convinced I will be.”
However, while justifying his dismissal, Tottenham said they had been “determined to give Frank the time and support needed to build for the future together”, but recent results meant “a change at this point is necessary.”

The club’s management added: “Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward.
“We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Before the sacking of the Danish tactician, Tottenham had won just twice in their last 17 league games.
Frank leaves the North London club having won just 13 of the 38 matches he took charge of.
The loss to Newcastle left him with the worst Premier League win percentage of any Spurs manager in the Premier League era, at just 26.9%.
