Sowore wondered why Trump, who recently questioned the Nigerian government’s handling of insecurity, is now praising the same administration.

Human rights activist and 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that US President Donald Trump hailed Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, at a recent breakfast meeting solely because of the “power of money.”
The activist-turned-politician made the claim on Friday in a post shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
On Thursday, the US President recognised the presence of the Nigerian President’s wife, Remi Tinubu, while speaking at the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.
Trump, who highlighted the First Lady’s faith leadership and religious role, described her as a “very respected woman.”

Trump said, “We are honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at one of the largest churches. A very respected woman.”
Reacting to the comment, Sowore questioned why the US President—who recently criticised the Nigerian government over allegations of genocide against Christians—is now praising members of that same administration.
He wrote: “@RealDonaldTrump praising ‘singing’ Remi Tinubu at his Washington DC prayer breakfast is not faith; Trump has no faith in anything but the power of money.
“Trump and his business neocons scream ‘Christian genocide!’ for propaganda purposes, but the moment money changes hands, they suddenly become VIP guests receiving standing ovations.
“They weaponise religion when it helps them, then auction that same religion to the highest bidder.”
