The governors of the South East zone have called on Movement for
Actualization of the Sovereign of State of Biafra (MASSOB) and
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to continue to toe the line of
peace as the only way to ensure economic development of the zone and
Nigeria at large.
In a communiqué read by the Imo State Governor Rochas Okokrocha at the
Government House, Enugu, they resolved to consult widely with Ohanaeze, traditional rulers, Development Unions, the Clergy and other stakeholders on how to ensure lasting peace in the zone.
In furtherance to this, the governors scheduled an emergency meeting
of stakeholders on Sunday, November22, 2015 in Enugu, adding that
attendance will be for all honourable ministers, national assembly
members and other invited stakeholders from the
zone.
The governors expressed concern about the poor state of the Federal
Government roads in the zone, among which are, Enugu-Onitsha road,
Abat-Ikot Ekpene road and Owerri-Port Harcourt road with Enugu Port
Harcourt road.
They further agreed to appoint a high level Economic Advisory
Committee to harness the economic potentials of the people of the
South East working together.
The meeting was attended by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state,
Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia
State with the deputy governor of Anambra state, Dr. Nkem Okeke.
