Soludo Media Office, the information platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the November 6, Anambra governorship election, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has put a lie to reports of alleged attacks on its principal by hoodlums in Ihiala, on Tuesday.

Unconfirmed reports had earlier in the day, claimed that the APGA flag bearer and his campaign team were attacked by gunmen in Ihiala, with unspecified number of casualties.

A statement by Joe Anatune of the Soludo Media Office, has however faulted the reports, describing them as totally false and should be disregarded. The release added that at the time of the attack, Soludo was not in Ihiala but in Ogbaru council area of the state.

“The news making the rounds that Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s Campaign team was attacked today at Ihiala is totally false and should be disregarded.

“The Soludo campaign team was at Ogbaru Local Government Area when this unfortunate incident at Ihiala allegedly took place”, it stressed.

In explaining the true state of the situation, the release recalled that a combined team of policemen and Soldiers repelled an attack by unknown gunmen at Odoata Primary School, Ihiala, where the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was scheduled to organise a rally for the November 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra

It remarked that while the incident was taking place, Prof Soludo and the governor, Willie Obiano, were in Ogbaru at a rally organised by APGA and not in Ihiala as insinuated by the reports.

“Consequently, the news being peddled around that the campaign train was attacked is therefore untrue and should be disregarded”, the statement advised.

It noted that Soludo applauded the professionalism and gallantry of the combined security agencies who repelled the attackers and expressed his deep sympathy to the innocent people who were attacked.
