Liverpool manager Arne Slot has suggested that Mohamed Salah may have picked up an injury during Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) Round of 16 second-leg victory over Galatasaray, revealing that the Egyptian specifically asked to come off.
The Dutch tactician shared the news during his post-match interview after the Reds defeated the Turkish Super Lig champions 4-0 on Wednesday night.
Salah was amongst the goalscorers as Slot’s men brushed aside Galatasaray to advance to the quarter-final stage with a 4-1 aggregate victory.
However, the 33-year-old was substituted in the 75th minute, with Cody Gakpo taking his place.

Speaking after the win, Slot confirmed the change was unplanned and effectively forced.
“Mo Salah asked for a substitution,” the Liverpool boss told Fabrizio Romano after the game.
“He felt something… so let’s see where he is for the weekend.”
Following the win, Liverpool are set to face Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals next month.
Meanwhile, Salah will be hoping to recover in time for the Premier League clash against Brighton this weekend.
